BLACKPINK Competes With BTS In 2023

BLACKPINK, a Korean K-Pop girl group, just broke their record for most views with the video “DUU-DU DDU-DU”. The number of views of this clip exceeds 2 billion views on YouTube at the end of January 2023.

Released in 2018, the title “DUU-DU DDU-DU” has just passed the fatal milestone of 2 billion views on YouТube. Personal record for K-Pop group BLACKPINK. So Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé are offering themselves a good spot in front of the BTS group that hasn’t managed to cross that milestone yet. If surpassing a billion views is a big deal, Koreans are familiar with it.

Indeed, Psy, the interpreter of the famous “Gangnam Style”, has over 4.6 billion views on his music video released in 2012. But the prize certainly goes to the wake-up video for “Baby Shark Dance” to the haunting tune, whose clip reaches 12 billion views. Good luck we wish the group of girls.

After two concerts at the Accor Arena, the Korean band may well perform again as part of a charity tour in some European cities. Along with many international artists, BLACKPINK performed at a concert supporting Operation Yellow Pieces on January 28 at the Zenith in Paris. However, as fans have pointed out on Twitter, the quartet is due to perform in Abu Dhabi soon as part of their international tour.

Blackpink is made up of four young Korean singers. Jisoo is the eldest in the gang. She has a great sense of humor and started her career by filming commercials and music videos. Jenny is 23 years old. She can sing and rap. A true fashion icon, she is the first member of the group to release a solo album called “Solo”. Rosé is the lead singer of Blackpink. The 22-year-old star also plays piano and guitar. Finally, Lisa is the youngest member of the group. She was part of the dance lineup before her audition to become a K-pop idol.

According to Blackpink’s label, YG Entertainment, the choice of the group’s name was not made by chance. The singers wanted to show that they are not just beautiful, spineless young women. The name “Blackpink” or in French “Black-rose” emphasizes the contrast between the perception of femininity, often associated with pink, and black, which is contrary to fragility.
