Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers recalled friendship with Andy Gill, saying that he «deeply shaped my aesthetics and approach to music».
Soon it is planned to release an album called «The Problem Of Leisure», which will be fully dedicated to the memory of the late Andy Gill. This member of Gang Of Four died last year at the age of 64. It was he, according to Flea, who formed his attitude to music, its aesthetic perception and his own direction in musical work.
Flea recalls how the release of his debut album, entitled «Gang Of Four», in 1979, was a real discovery and breakthrough into the world of music for him. Gill, in turn, continued to produce the first Chili record of the same name – a process that was full of disputes, discussions and disagreements. Gill later accused the group of disrupting the presentation of the song «Gang Of Four».
The joint creative path was full of hopes and disappointments, there were disputes and quarrels. Musicians for some time did not communicate with each other. But in 2018, Gill called Flea, they talked for a long time and finally were able to find out the relationship, eliminating differences.
But soon Gill was gone, and Flea now feels the inseparability of this loss. Trying to somehow honor the memory of friend, colleague and producer, he decided to release a full-length album fully dedicated to the memory of Gill.
