How To Move Songs In Spotify Playlists

Spotify is one of the major streaming platforms in the world. The app, which has free and paid plans, allows the user to create playlists for their favorite songs. However, with constant use of the application, the lists become extensive and even confusing. To solve this problem and provide some organization, it is often necessary to move songs around in Spotify playlists.

How To Move Songs In Spotify Playlists

To make life easier for users, the app offers a feature that allows you to move songs between playlists without having to search for the title in the streaming search box. All of these steps can be done on an Android phone, and it can also be done on all platforms where the app is available, such as iPhones, Windows and macOS computers, as well as video games and smart TVs.

After adding tracks to a Spotify playlist, you can rearrange them in your preferred order. Simply click on a track in the list and drag it up or down – you’ll see a white line appear between playlist tracks indicating where you can drop the selected track. Release the mouse button, and the track will move to its new position. It’s straightforward!

The drag-and-drop method

The drag-and-drop functionality is limited to playlists that you’ve personally crafted, unless you’re part of a collaborative playlist where editing privileges are granted, indicated by a green music note icon next to the playlist title. In contrast, playlists that you’ve subscribed to cannot be modified by anyone besides their creators. This means that the creative control and customization options are restricted to playlists under your direct authorship or those where you’re involved in a collaborative capacity. Additionally, this distinction underscores the importance of ownership and permissions within the realm of playlist curation, emphasizing the autonomy of creators in shaping and managing their musical collections.
