Music Services That Work with Alexa

Amazon’s Prime Music is a great option to start with if you are a music lover who prefers to listen to it online. However, if you dislike Amazon’s options for some reason, you may use music services that work with Alexa from third-parties, though you need to make certain adjustments.

First of all, you should have an Amazon account to use any of these options. You need to open the Alexa app on your smartphone or go to the Alexa ‘s web interface. There is a sidebar on the left to select ‘Settings’. Find the ‘Music’ category and choose the page to connect your third party service.

You can  link to other streaming services here that include a variety of options. Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Tuneln have the built-in Alexa integration, so they are completely free. Spotify and Apple Music also have free tiers you can link your Alexa to. When you open the Alexa app, select the tab ‘Music & Podcasts’ in the section of ‘Alexa Preferences’. To find this, click ‘Settings’ first.

Your Echo can also play music from other sources, such as Deezer, SiriusXM, Tidal, Vevo, or Gimme.

As soon as you enter the Alexa app, tap the field for default services. Amazon Music is there by default. However, you can change this to your preferred service either for using their libraries or radio stations.

Alexa can also play Apple Music. You need to enter your account credentials to switch to it.You can also set Apple Music as a streaming service by default.

If you consider music purchased via Google Play Store or iTunes, you can transfer the audio files to your Amazon Music account with the help of a reliable converter. Or you can use music.amazon.com to get up to 250 songs from these services for free. If you pay $24.99 per year for the subscription to these stores, Alexa will play them for you at your first request without any additional requirements.

If you are already subscribed to YouTube Red, Apple Music, or Google Play Music All Access, you need some minor extra setup to pair the Echo speaker to your phone, computer, or tablet. Use Echo as Bluetooth and it will stream all the music you need from some other device that is available.

Keep in mind that using Spotify with Alexa also needs your Spotify Premium subscription or membership in the Spotify Family Plan. In this case, you can make Spotify your default option in the Alexa library.

Whatever music streaming service you may prefer, you should be able to connect to it in a few minutes. That is why Amazon’s Alexa and Echo are considered very convenient options for pairing them with any third party services without spending too many costs on that.
