Steve Klein, former guitarist of the pop punk band New Found Glory, was convicted of committing a crime related to child pornography and corruption of minors.
The criminal case against Steve Klein was opened by the St. Louis police on the fact of crimes committed since 2014. The investigation considered that Klein was guilty of misconduct due to the fact that he exposed himself to underage girls, and on the hard drive of his computer, the police found multiple elements of child pornography during a search. By the way, it was Klein’s ex-wife who was the first to draw the attention of the police to the hard drive. She and Klein divorced in 2014.
Klein has been a member of New Found Glory since their formation in 1997. But after the charges against him, Klein had to leave work in the group. A statement was published on the band’s official website stating that the guitarist had left the band due to «disagreements».
The case was heard by the Supreme Court of St. Louis Obispo. At first, Elyain did not admit guilt and denied all the charges against him. But under the weight of evidence, he subsequently made a deal with the investigation, which made it possible to significantly mitigate the verdict of the court.
As a result, Klein was sentenced to two years probation. He is also charged with the obligation to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years.
If Klein complies with all conditions during one year of probation, then his criminal record will be terminated. The guitarist’s lawyer claims that he will fully comply with all conditions of probation, so he hopes for the prompt release of his client from a criminal record.
