The Most Positive Songs According To A Psychologist

A huge amount of information falls on a modern person in our time from all sides. Most often it is negative or even shocking. Therefore, a person, in order to somehow cheer himself up and escape from life’s problems, resorts to music.

But not all music can give a positive effect. A 2019 study showed that contemporary music is becoming more sad or even aggressive. Of course, such music gives a certain therapeutic effect, but it does not have a positive effect on raising the mood.

Professor of Sheffield University, psychologist Michael Bonshor was puzzled by this question and deduced a formula that corresponds to music that brings joy and a positive “aftertaste”.

Such music should have a certain rhythm, approximately 140 beats per minute, major key and belong to such genres as dance music, pop or rock. The formula takes into account many more musical subtleties. According to the scientist, it is these songs that evoke positive emotions and make almost half of the adult population sing along and dance.

Of course, a list of such songs was compiled. It was led by the track “Good Vibrations” by The Beach Boys. Another composition of this group was also included in the list – “I Get Around”. Second place was taken by the song “I Got You (I Feel Good)” by James Brown, and the British band Madness closed the top three with the track “House of Fun”.

The list also includes “Get the Party Started” by Pink, “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel, “Sun Is Shining” by Bob Marley, “YMCA” by Village People, “Waterloo” by ABBA and “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire.

It should be noted that there are no modern songs in the rating. This fact can either confirm the opinion of scientists about sad modern music, or be the subjective opinion of Michael Bonshor. Be that as it may, in order to form a personal opinion about this rating, you need to listen to these songs and follow your reaction. In any case, the experiment itself will definitely cause positive emotions and give a topic for conversation with friends.
